My Story - Peggi J. Redalen
A native Minnesotan who earned her Horticulture-Landscape Design degree from Dakota County Technical College, Peggi founded the southeast-Minnesota*-based Elements of Design in Rushford, Minnesota in 2006, following extensive work experience as a staff designer for full service landscape design/build firms. She also has past experience and knowledge with plant nursery, garden center and landscape maintenance. Well regarded for her artistic landscape designs, she has provided professional service to residential and commercial clients. Her involvement and training as a gardener and designer has spanned close to 20 years evolving to her present destination. Peggi's award winning and published design work is inspired by the unique dreams and needs of her clients and the wondrous, innate beauty of the environment.
While much of today's design is aimed at creating an elegant solution to a specific set of problems, though practical, Peggi feels it should not be the sole reason for landscaping. Design is more than a search for something to please the eye. Peggi's objective is to create with a sense of responsibility toward a cohesive vision and goal. To do her very best to respect and understand how to organize and transform a space in balance and harmony with the spirit of the land, its natural elements and inhabitants.
Peggi's distinctive and personalized designs, which are characterized by a high level of detail and project commitment, range in scale from modest front entrance gardens and intimate courtyards to expansive projects such as an in vogue retreat, an arts and crafts haven, an Italian terraced vista, an English country estate and many other site challenges. Her design intention is to deploy artistic expression to create gardens and landscapes not only as compelling spaces, but as landscapes that have an effect on the lives of those who see and live in them.
Working in collaboration with clients, Peggi's design specialties include extensive planting designs, new and renovation single family home landscapes, meditation spaces and gardens, terraced gardens, outdoor living and entertainment areas, walkways, walls and patios, service courts, water features and container gardens.
